Budget 10:50 am
To be on Race calendar, a “head tax” must be paid to PNSA.
--Get citizen races back on-board with PNSA to increase incoming money from head tax.
--Perhaps start a “Race of the Year” award, sanctioned by PNSA. This might help put citizen races on the calendar and bring support from the master contingency.
--Criteria for “Race of the Year” award still need to be set.
Summer Camp Report 10:55 am
--Great turn out at all 3 camps.
--Athlete participation is key and seemed to be a success. Based on feedback from athletes.
--Thank NCC for Funding.
--Costs for transportation (Vans) increased.
--T.J. purposes a summer camp in Leavenworth, mid-June.
--Tentative schedule for next summer’s camps is set as follows:
May 25th-28th: On-snow in Bend, OR.
June 20th-24th: Leavenworth, WA
July 18th-22nd: Trout Lake, WA
August 15th-19th: Anthony Lakes, OR
Camp Protocol and Budget 11:15 am
--If requesting funding, a formal proposal with expected costs should be submitted to PNSA. Also, there should be an attempt to standardize camp costs, and their budget proposals.
--Also discussed, as the number of athletes at these camps becomes larger, should there be a selective process to decide who should go, or perhaps just re-organize their structure.
--It was noted, for a camp to get PNSA insurance all camp attendees need to have PNSA memberships.
JO Qualifying 11:30 am
--No changes made. Steve will e-mail qualification criteria. Also, coaches discretion rule should be handled we caution and sensitivity.
--Steve will keep the qualifying tabulations for the season.
JO Coaching Staff 11:45 am
--Ben purposes that an increase from 6 to 8 coaches at JOs with one being a professional wax tech.
--Tenative Coach List: George Bryant, Ben Husaby, Brenna Knowles, Scott Johnson, “wax tech.” Possible coaches: Matt Halloran, Chris Clark.
--Advance notice will be given if wax tech is hired.
JO Budget 11:55 am –See Ben’s Attachment
Bid for 2010 JO 12:00 pm
--Spokane club needs to communicate with Steve and Ben on where they are with planning their proposal. If Spokane does not succeed, Bend will submit a proposal.
PNSA Travel Protocol/Senior Nationals Coaches 12:10 pm
--Discussed. What are the criteria that distinguish an event as a “PNSA event/race vs. a club race/event? There should be a push for PNSA to travel as a division to senior nationals. The super JOQ in Utah is a independent club event, but it would be nice to communicate among the clubs so that they all stay near each other, wax together, and have similar travel plans. This will help facilitate smoother operation in March (JOs)
--For each Division Race (PNSA supported) there will be a fee to receive services such as coaching, travel, waxing and food, etc. The extent to which each of these services will be provided is to be determined on a per race basis. That cost, to be determined, will then be communicated to the division.
--For an athlete to receive these services they MUST pay the PNSA fee determined for that particular race/event. If the athlete does not pay the fee, no services will be provided.
--Discussed: What to do when a PNSA athlete is at an event and didn’t pay the fee and requests coaching? No sure conclusion.
--Ben Submits request for $500 for senior nationals this year. Motion is passed
--PNSA fee and services included for this years senior national trip are as follows: $100 per athlete; this will provide the athlete with transportation (once in Michigan), coaching, and waxing. for further information contact Ben.
Technical Delegate Discussion 1:10 pm
--PNSA division lacks the # of TDs it needs. There is a push to recruit volunteers from the division who are interested in becoming certified. Methow has one candidate, Dalton Dulac, who has expressed an interest.
--PNSA will allocate some funds to help defray the costs of the certification and the trip to Reno. No motion passed on exact amount.
Senior Athlete Support 1:20
--The question: What can PNSA do to help support its athletes once they become senior skiers? One possible solution is to have clubs within PNSA donate some of their Fundraising revenue to PNSEF.
Meeting adjourned 1:40 pm
