Minutes for NCC meeting, 9/27/03 Yakima

It was discussed who were the actual voting members of the NCC. Voting members are one representative from each club. They are: Axelrod, Clark, Owen, Husaby, Brooks, France, Bonneau.

Ben went over JO logistics that have been put together by Brenna. She has found housing at the Cascade Inn on St Rt 73. 10 minutes from Mt. Vanhovenberg – race/wax venue. ( all other lodging is 8 additional miles away from race venue) ORDA has not yet posted a coaches meeting headquarters. (coaches might have to drive 8 miles to meetings). 33 beds available, 3 athletes per room. Contact person: Joe (518) 523-2130

Owners have offered a team rate of $44/person/day. Includes: 1.breakfast buffet-hot/cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagles/toast, juice, eggs, bacon, tea, coffee. 2. Choice of 5 dinner entrees- lasagna/pasta, beef, chicken, stirfry etc. 3. Lodging.

Owners would like a check for 25% down as a deposit. They will not cash the check until February 2004. Our reservation is still scheduled at this time even without the deposit.

Questions: Where is race headquarters and wax venue? Exact race schedule? Course specs at Van Hovenberg? Best days to fly.

A motion was made and passed to adopt a PNSA budget for this season of:
Wax $ 750
Camps $1,250
Coaches Ed $ 500
Race Travel $ 500
Total $3,000

A motion was made and passed that PNSEF funds will go to JO entries.

Next summers training camps were discussed. A proposed on-snow camp at Mt. Hood in June and the Trout Lake camp in July.

Peter Hutzel stated that all PNSEF grant requests must be submitted by mid December.

The season race schedule was discussed. Only races that pay the $2.00 head tax will be listed on the PNSA race schedule.

JO coaches were selected. Logistics – Brenda, Head Coach – Flash, Head Wax Coach – Ben, Three Assistance’s will be selected after the first JO qualifier.

Ben will look into purchasing new JO team jackets.

JO qualifying procedures will be: 9% back in 5 out of 6 races; sick policy is 7% or better in 3 races; petition policy is the same.

Long discussion was held on NRL points. No action was taken. Coaches will encourage top skiers to get USSA membership at beginning of season.

Sprint for everyone second day

It was pointed out that JOQ’s need to have level 2 TD,s. We are short Level 2 TD and that all clubs need to recruit individuals to pursue level 2 qualifications.

College report: Whitman has a new x-c coach. Albertson College has reinstated its x-c ski program.
