To
qualify for the Junior Nationals in March, J2/J1/OJ
men and women must:
- Be a
USSA licensed competitor registered to ski for PNSA;
-
Qualify in 5 of 6 Junior Nationals Qualifiers (Bend, Methow
and Spokane);
- To
qualify in 5 of 6 races, athletes must ski 8% back of the
average top three fastest times; and
- In
the event that we qualify more than our allotted team size
(20 female, 20 male, plus pre-qualified athletes who have
qualified by earning positions on the World Juniors or
Scandinavian Cup Teams, or qualified for NCAA and are unable
to attend NCAA Championships), we will keep a ranking list
of PNSA skiers based on the following formula:
Racer's Points = (Racer's Time in Seconds - Scoring
Base) / Race Distance
Scoring Base = (Best Time in Seconds + 2nd Best Time in
Seconds + 3rd Best Time in Seconds) / 3
Low
points are better.
PNSA Regional Group
In order to qualify for PNSA Regional
Elite Group (REG) status, a skier must be:
1. Ranked in the top 20 on the USSA
point list in any one discipline in their age class, or
2. have a top 10 finish at Junior
Nationals.
USSA REG Camp
The purpose of the REG camp is to foster development in the
older age classes for top skiers within the Western Region.
This camp provides an opportunity for the division’s top
skiers to train and race against other top juniors from
outside the division. This camp is primarily for J1 and OJ
skiers. PNSA has a quote of 3 boys and 3 girls in additional
to automatic selection set by the Western Region. Automatic
selection is:
- WJC or Scando tem member
- Top 15 on year end USSA Ranking
List (available on line at ussa.org)
The PNSA Regional Group selection
method will fill the PNSA quote positions.
PNSA NCC will do their best to select
deserving skiers to the roster. Coach’s Discretion can be
used for athlete selection. Second year J2s may be
considered in exceptional cases for the camp. It is a
prerequisite that J2’s considering petitioning the selection
committee rank in the top 20 in any one discipline for their
respective age group to be considered.
PNSA will support the USSA’s and
Western Region’s desire to bring high level sportsmanship
and professionalism to the region and divisions. The NCC
will attempt to support those athletes selected by providing
a traveling coach or and or athlete funding when available. |
