 PNSA OVERVIEW

PNSA hosts races throughout the Pacific Northwest, from January to April. Race in as few or as many races as you like. There is a points competition per gender and age category, and a points competition for the Team title. These awards are given out at the PNSA Championships at Mt. Bachelor, OR in April.

 PNSA GOAL

We welcome all levels of skiers, from skiers looking to challenge themselves through racing, to the most avid ski racer who attends every event they can. Our goal is to have fun, ski with and meet new friends while improving one's ski racing skills. Your goal is to bring a friend to a race and spread the word about Masters Racing!

 RACE ENTRIES

1. Mail entry fees and entry cards to the Race Organizer so that it arrives one week before the race date. See back of this handbook for a copy of the Entry Card. Calling or emailing the Race Organizer is NOT considered pre-entering a race. All races but the PNSA Championships (Mt. Bachelor) will allow same-day entry, but expect to pay a Late Fee, usually $5 more than the fee noted above.

2. Online Registration at www.pnsa.org (masters section). Information noted on how to register through and online entry form. To get the online registration forms for an event, click on the race name in the PNSA Masters schedule at the pnsa.org website.

3. Entry Fees: SL & GS $20 per day. SG $30.00. See handbook for entry fees for Western Region Championships and U.S. National Championships. Check PNSA.org for updated information.

4. All entries for the National Championships must be sent to: Richard Zimmerman, with full payment of entry fees for all races entered.  The payment must be received no later than Jan31, 2007.  See Chapter 5 for details.  A: Richard Zimmerman 4921 N Scenic View Lane Tacoma, WA 98407; T: 253-468-8806; E: rzimmerman@harbornet.com.

USSA/PNSA MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Racers must have a current USSA Masters Competition Card. This must be shown at time of race sign in. A temporary, or "day-of-race" membership, can be purchased at the race site. Some races will wave this 'temp-fee' if you have never raced in a USSA Masters race before.

 HELMETS/SAFETY/SIDE-SLIPPING

Racers must wear a ski helmet in ALL events. Helmets are now required for SL. Competitors are only allowed into the race arena under the approval of the race crew managing the event. Side-slipping is required by all racers prior to the race, and racers may be asked to continue slipping throughout the race. Always slip the high and low line of the race course, not just the line you want to take.
